New stories on Living Heritage

Congratulations to these schools that have recently finished their websites!

Take a look at Motu – From bush to grass from students at Motu School, Tiniroto through the looking glass from students at Tiniroto School, Waerenga-o-Kuri history from students at Waerenga-o-Kuri School, and Identity from students at Waipaoa Station School. Teachers, students and parents from the four schools joined together to celebrate and launch their stories at the Tairawhiti Museum in Gisborne. Students from each school spoke of their learning and shared their work in displays around the room.

Also check out The Living Canoe the fourth story completed for the New Zealand UNESCO Pacific project. This story from Mitiaro High School shares how their school community built a canoe and the amazing learning journey the students experienced.

Living Heritage and Te Ara

Living Heritage stories can now be found in the Further Sources sections across the Te Ara - The Encyclopedia of New Zealand website. Read in Signposts how this was achieved and where these stories can be found. From now on, we will look to see how your Living Heritage stories relate to Te Ara themes so that they can be added too.

New registrations for Living Heritage?

We're always looking for new and different stories for the site. Please get in contact if you would like to discuss your ideas or go to Participate on the Living Heritage website for information. It would be great to showcase your story.

Copyright and Privacy Release form

When your Living Heritage story is finished you need to fill in, sign, and send us the Living Heritage Copyright and privacy release form which tells us that all permissions needed have been acquired and are being held at the school. We cannot publish your site until we have this assurance. Please don’t send us the other permissions that you have acquired. Store them at your schools.

Are you are working on a story?

It has been great to meet many of you at conferences, workshops, and in your schools over the year. We hope your last term for the year goes well and that those of you currently creating websites enjoy your work. Just remember support is only an email or telephone call away. We love working with you and are always happy to help.

Best wishes

The Living Heritage team.
